Few people can say they’ve had the privilege to learn from someone who is not only an expert in their field, but a true role model. I am very lucky to say I have learned from one of the best. As a teacher, he goes the extra mile for all of his students, no matter what level they are. I am honored to say he has become not only a mentor to me, but a personal friend. I highly recommend professor O’Kane to anyone who truly wants to gain knowledge and master the techniques of playing the guitar, music theory, improvisation, or songwriting.
My 14-year old goddaughter started classes a couple of months ago. She didn’t know what to expect, but after 2 months has taken a real liking to the class. Padraig was open with asking what she wanted to play: acoustic or electric guitar. She chose electric, and when she got her amp he took the time to explain knobs and the like. In her own words, “Padraig is really patient at explaining, and wants to know you understand before moving on. He’s passionate in his teaching and is funny. The class is never boring.”

Professor O’Kane is my son’s guitar teacher and he’s truly top notch. Besides having awesome guitar skills and a terrific teaching style, he establishes a real rapport with his students that encourages them and makes them feel comfortable. Plus he’s a super nice guy to boot! Grateful we found him and looking forward to continued lessons.
The guitar instructor, Padraig, is an amazing guy and even better instructor. He knows everything from guitar tuning and adjustments to guitar theory and strumming techniques. He’s very welcoming and happy to help you learn.
Highly recommended. Able to teach at beginner level as well as very advanced level. More importantly he keeps it fun and real. Guitar playing is joyful as it is. But having a professor that keeps you engaged is golden. Five stars no doubt.

Professor O'Kane has been a professor of mine for about 3 years now. I must say that he is not only a phenomenal professor, but he is a phenomenal person as well. He doesn't only teach you about music, but he also teaches you valuable life lessons. I always enjoy going to his classes because, I know that I am going to leave learning more than I ever had and being pushed to where I thought I could not have gone. He is very passionate about what he does and being taught by him is one of the best choices that I have ever made in my career.

The Miami Guitar Workshop offers the best guitar instruction around! It used to be that I would drive 2 1/2 hours from The Keys to take weekly lessons here. Lessons are enjoyable, effective, and provide superior insight to becoming a great musician. I have been playing guitar for 15 years and have a degree in music and I still find immense value in my lessons at MGW. This institution is capable of taking a novice beginner to formidable musicianship and enlightening experienced veterans beyond what they knew was possible.

Professor O'Kane was my guitar teacher at Killian High School. He was always very enthusiastic during class and was a huge advocate for the guitar program and all of his students. It's been over 10 years since then, but when I decided I wanted to advance my guitar and music knowledge I knew just who to call. Professor O'Kane is not only a masterful guitarist, he is an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist, composer, and singer. Anyone wanting to learn an instrument for the first time or hone their existing skills, would be greatly benefited by O'Kane's instruction. He not only has the training and degree necessary to teach at a university level, he also has years of professional performance under his belt. I highly recommend him!

My son Danny took guitar lessons from Padraig O'Kane for a number of years. At first I would just drop him off, but I so enjoyed listening to the lessons and the playing I started hanging around and enjoying the sessions myself. Thanks to Padraig's talents as both a musician and a teacher, Danny joined the University of Miami Youth orchestra as their youngest guitar player ever. And he has kept playing to this day, always citing Padraig as the great influence in his life. I finally took the plunge to learn with professor Okane and I'm so happy with the progress I've made in just 2 months.. He is very knowledgeable, patient and makes learning fun.
